Sabah lucky to have King, Queen visit, says Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: The state of Sabah and its people are lucky to have Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visit the state through the Kembara Kenali Borneo tour, which is ongoing at present.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the tour programme is very meaningful to the people here as they are able to see the faces of the King, Queen and the rest of the royal entourage up close.

Hajiji during the state government dinner reception here held in conjunction of the tour programme on Wednesday (Sept 6), said some even had the opportunity to engage in conversation with them in several locations that the convoy visited.

“The people really look up to the willingness of the King and Queen to drive for themselves and go through the Pan Borneo Highway from Tawau to Kota Kinabalu, where they will continue their tour to Sipitang tomorrow (Thursday) before heading to neighbouring Sarawak.

“The concern, warmth and nobility of both Agong and Permaisuri will be forever be cherished in the hearts of the people,” said Hajiji during the reception.

Also present during the event were Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and wife Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and state legislative assembly speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya.

During the reception, Hajiji also took the opportunity to inform the King that Sabah state trade have reached the highest record in history with a jump to RM118.1 bil in 2022, compared to RM87.2 bil the year before that.

“In line with this progress, the state government has brought in over RM33 bil of investment value to Sabah, depite only holding the helm of the state for three years.

“The state revenue collection was also the highest recorded at RM7 bil.

“With the great economic performance as well as a clear Sabah Maju Jaya development plan introduced two years ago, the state government has realised their efforts to revive the state economy,” Hajiji added.

Hajiji also pledged undivided loyalty to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and the royal institution which is a symbol of unity and harmony of the people of Malaysia for all this time.
