KOTA KINABALU: United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) will hold its 2023 convention this Saturday (Sept 9) at Sepanggar community hall here, where 450 delegates from across Sabah and several districts of Perak are expected to attend.

Upko information chief Dr Peter Jr Naintin in a statement here on Wednesday (Sept 6), said special invitations had also been forwarded to Pakatan Harapan Sabah component parties to attend and join the conference.

"This time, the Upko townhall session will be held a day earlier (Friday) for the Upko top leadership lineup consisting of supreme council members, women wing exco, youth exco, Generasi Muda exco and information officers from divisions.

"The theme this year is ‘Building Upko’," he said.

Dr Peter added that three main papers would also be presented during the Saturday convention, with the first one from deputy party president Datuk Donald P. Mojuntin on the topic 'Strengthen Upko Party'.

Honorary president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau would share a paper on Malaysia Agreement 1963, and the last paper would be by party advisory council chairman Tan Sri Bernard G Dompok entitled 'Upko Then and Now'.

"Party president Datuk Ewon Benedick will present the closing speech, where thereafter a dinner for the delegates at the same hall will ensue," he added.
