Do it if you dare: Puad taunts Muda

PUTRAJAYA: Muda unofficially removed itself from the unity government when it contested alone in the recent six state elections, said Umno supreme council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.

Mohd Puad also said Muda’s threats to retract support from the unity government are unnecessary.

“Muda should just retract their support. Besides that, Muda unofficially quit the unity government when it contested solo in the six state elections. It was Muda that crossed the red line,” said Mohd Puad in a Facebook post on Thursday (Sept 7).

Mohd Puad also said the discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) granted to Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi should not be used as leverage by Muda to be accepted into Pakatan Harapan.

At the same time, Mohd Puad said that instead of threatening to retract support from the unity government, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman should vacate his Muar seat and party secretary general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz should vacate the Puteri Wangsa state seat.

“Can Muar and Puteri Wangsa win without Pakatan’s support? I’m sure they are not brave enough. It is just a threat,” said Mohd Puad.

Syed Saddiq said on Tuesday (Sept 5) that Muda will reevaluate its position in the unity government after the DNAA was granted to Ahmad Zahid.

On Monday (Sept 4), the High Court granted a DNAA to Ahmad Zahid for all 47 graft charges involving Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
