Man killed after 4WD hits parked trailer on NSE near Muallim

IPOH: A man was killed after his four-wheel drive (4WD) collided with a trailer at KM383.3 of the North-South Expressway near Muallim district.

Muallim OCPD Supt Mohd Hasni Mohd Nasir said the incident occurred at around 4.50am Thursday (Sept 7).

“The victim has been identified as 29-year-old Muhamad Azwan Roslan from Dengkil, Selangor," he said in a statement.

"He had two passengers with him: Abdul Mutalib Abdul Rahman, 34, who had a broken left arm; and Muhammad Sazrul Nizam Muzamil, 29, who sustained multiple injuries to the head, body and right leg.

“Based on our initial investigation, we believed that Muhamad Azwan was drowsy and accidentally rammed the back of the trailer that was parked at the side of the highway,” he added.

Supt Mohd Hasni said trailer driver Muhammad Afiq Rosli was unharmed.

“The 4WD vehicle was driving from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh. When we arrived, Muhammad Azwan and Abdul Mutalib were trapped in the vehicle and Fire and Rescue Department personnel had to use special rescue equipment to free them.

“Muhammad Azwan died at the scene while his passengers were rushed to Slim River Hospital for immediate medical attention,” he said.
