> Harian Metro reported that Japanese director Sho Miyake, 39, is proud to be able to screen his film Small, Slow But Steady in Malaysia, as the movie drew inspiration from the film Talentime by the late Yasmin Ahmad.
Miyake said it was a great honour for him because he admired Yasmin’s film, considered one of the greatest works from this country.
“The story revolves around a woman who has a hearing problem. However, before I produced this film, I actually did a lot of research related to such stories.
“One of them is a film from Malaysia. I’m sure a few of you must know Talentime. I feel very honoured to have this opportunity to show my film in your country,” he said at the opening ceremony of the Japan Film Festival (JFF) 2023 in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Miyake said that one of the main reasons he was excited to come here was because he heard about the beauty of Malaysia.
“The main actress of my film, Yukino Kishii, has told me many times how much she loves Malaysia. She has been here several times.
“She told me to try certain foods, visit some locations and others. So, it really means something special for me to be here,” he said.
