Wrath of nature: The victim being saved by fishermen after the attack at the jetty in Lubok China, Alor Gajah, Melaka.

ALOR GAJAH: Melaka police have received a report in relation to a crocodile attack on a 65-year-old woman at Sungai Timun jetty in Lubok China.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said the 24-year-old son of the victim had lodged the police report on Monday.

“She had injuries on her right ankle from the attack and is currently being treated at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital in Seremban,” he said yesterday.

Supt Arshad said the incident happened at 4pm on Sept 1 when the victim, identified as Nurkaisa Ausad, was collecting prawns along Sungai Timun with a group of fishermen.

He said the woman also sustained injuries to her head when she hit the hull of her boat while fighting back the reptile.

Earlier, Duyong assemblyman Datuk Mohd Noor Helmy Abdul Halim said the woman went through a traumatic time after she was dragged by a saltwater crocodile along the banks of Sungai Timun.

He said the victim put up a struggle when the crocodile lunged at her and attempted to drag her into the waters.

Sungai Timun is a tributary of Sungai Linggi, which is a known natural habitat for saltwater crocodiles.
