MCA party polls to commence next week, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: The MCA national-level party elections will commence next week at the San Choon Hall, Wisma MCA from 1pm to 5pm on Sept 11, said Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

The MCA president said voting will be held in polling stations in each MCA division nationwide from 2pm to 7pm on Sept 24.

"In this 2023 party election, I had proposed that we do it in an open and sincere manner with several events to be held to introduce the candidates to delegates.

"This will certainly make it easier for all our candidates to campaign and meet our delegates as I believe such a practice will further promote the spirit of democracy in our party," said Dr Wee on Facebook on Thursday (Sept 7).

"For the record, when I was contesting for the MCA Youth chief's post in 2008, I started using this campaign method even though there were several candidates vying for the same positions.

Dr Wee said this approach will save time for both the candidates and delegates.

"Other than that, it will also help our party members to build stronger bonds and encourage healthy competition.
