Nga's priorities seem to have shifted to 'BMW' public toilets, says MCA deputy president

IPOH: DAP’s Nga Kor Ming has shifted his priorities from championing the course of seeking recognition for the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and freehold titles to focusing on “BMW - bersih, menawan, wangi (clean, captivating, fragrant)" public toilets, says Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon.

The MCA deputy president said it was not that the cleanliness of public toilets was not important, but there were more pressing issues effecting the people, and the Chinese community especially.

“The issues of UEC and freehold titles were promises made by them (DAP).

“Now that they are in power, they should be fulfilling those promises, and not keeping quiet.

“It is time that they show sincerity in what they have been preaching all this while,” he said at the Ipoh Timur MCA dinner at a restaurant here Sunday (Sept 10).

On Saturday (Sept 9), Nga had said that the Local Government Development Ministry is requesting a RM300mil allocation for the coming budget announcement to build "BMW” toilets nationwide.

“The Chinese community is crying out, and they (DAP) must deliver what has been promised,” he said.

Dr Mah also said MCA have faced several challenges since the time of its founding.

“MCA will always stand up for the community, find ways to help and assist them,” he added.

Ipoh Timur MCA chief Tony Khoo said the division had thrown its support behind Dr Mah.

“No matter what position he will contest in the party polls, we are with him all the way,” he said.

Earlier, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that nominations for the MCA national-level party elections will be held on Monday (Sept 11) from 1pm to 5pm at the San Choon Hall in Wisma MCA.

Voting for the party elections will be held at polling stations in each MCA division nationwide from 2pm to 7pm on Sept 24.
