Swimming outing in Pasir Gudang turns tragic as 11-year-old drowns


PASIR GUDANG: An 11-year-old boy drowned while swimming with his friends in a river near Jalan Nilam 1, Taman Cendana, here.

Pasir Gudang Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Yusri Atan said that they received a distress call at 5.16pm on Sunday (Sept 10).

“We deployed nine personnel to the location to conduct a search.

“The body of the victim, identified as Muhamad Danil Zahri Borhanuddin, was later found three metres from the riverbank at a depth of 3m,” he said in a statement.

The victim was pronounced dead at the location by health officials and his body handed over to police for further action, he added.

Meanwhile, Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak confirmed receiving a report on the incident.
