Elderly homeless man severely beaten near KL city centre, cops remand 36-year-old man

KUALA LUMPUR: A homeless man was viciously attacked for yet-to-be-ascertained reasons, leading to a police investigation to be opened.

In a statement on Monday (Sept 11), Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Noor Dellhan Yahaya said that investigations were opened following a lodged police report and a now-viral post on X (formerly known as Twitter) which stated that a homeless man was beaten along Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock.

"At around 1.46am on Sept 11 the police arrested a 36-year-old man to assist investigations in this case," he said, adding that he had been remanded until Sept 13.

The police were also currently tracking down the injured victim.

"The motive of the attack is still being investigated," he said.

The post showed a photo of an elderly-looking man bloodied. The poster claimed that he saw the victim being randomly attacked by a suspect.
