No request yet from Perikatan Youth to hold Sept 16 rally, say KL cops

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have yet to receive a request for a planned rally by Perikatan Nasional Youth over Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA) on 47 graft charges.

When contacted, city police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid said as of Monday (Sept 11), they still had not received any official application.

On Sunday (Sept 10), Perikatan Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the movement would hold a peaceful assembly in front of a shopping mall here at 2pm on Saturday (Sept 16) as part of its "Save Malaysia" movement.

On Sept 4, Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah upheld the prosecution's application for a DNAA, which cited 11 reasons for the application.

A DNAA means an accused can face trial for the same charges in the future if the prosecution so decides.
