Three-year-old boy dies in accident near Semporna, nine injured


An accident involving 10 victims in two vehicles saw a three-year-old boy killed along Jalan Semporna-Tawau, Semporna on Monday (Sept 11).

KOTA KINABALU: A three-year-old boy was killed after the car he was travelling in collided with a pick-up truck in Semporna on Monday (Sept 11).

The deceased Muhammad Raib Yusof was one of the 10 victims involved in the accident that occurred along Jalan Semporna-Tawau near Sawit Kinabalu there, according to The Fire and Rescue Department.

He was travelling in a car with two women and another boy, while six others were inside the pick-up truck – one man, one woman, three girls and one boy.

Earlier, the Semporna Fire and Rescue dispatched its team to the scene following the report received at 2.02pm.

"The boy was pronounced dead on site by the medical officer present and handed over to the police for further action.

"The other victims injured in varying degrees have been given early treatment by the medical responders, and they were sent to the hospital for further treatment," said the Department spokesman.
