To con sex workers, an engineer in China poses as cop

PETALING JAYA: An engineer in China resorted to posing as a police officer conducting vice raids to swindle money from sex workers.

Guang Ming Daily reported the man, surnamed Han, owed money to illegal moneylenders after making a huge loss in an investment scheme.

After a failed attempt to get a loan in Hangzhou in April, he decided to try another method.

On April 27, he contacted a middleman and set up a request for sex service.

While conducting his “raid”, he coerced several sex workers for their payment app passwords using his “position” and stole more than 6,000 yuan (RM3,812) from them.

Then on May 9, Han repeated his act in Shanghai and stole more than 50,000 yuan (RM31,845) from a woman.

The man was arrested the same day and later charged in court.
