Motorcycle convoy to travel to Putrajaya from Penang to celebrate National Day and Malaysia Day


KEPALA BATAS: Some 50 people participated in a motorcycle convoy in conjunction with National Day month and Malaysia Day celebration in Kembara Merdeka Desa Madani 2023.

The convoy of 35 motorcycles and six cars decorated with Jalur Gemilang of various sizes start off its journey at Federal Building at Kepala Batas on Sept 12.

Penang Community Development Department (Kemas) director Kamarul Bahari Mohd Salleh said the convoy will begin at Kepala Batas and will pass Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and will end at Putrajaya in a four days journey.

"The convoy will stop first in Parit Buntar and Tasik Raban before continuing their journey tomorrow (Sept 13) to Selangor," he said during the flagging off ceremony.

Kamarul Bahari said the closing ceremony would be officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at Dataran Gemilang in Putrajaya.

He said the convoy expected to be joined by some 200 motorcycles while they passed by each state until reaching Putrajaya for the closing ceremony on Sept 15.

He said the convoy would pass through federal roads in rural areas and would stop at several Kemas designated areas to attend a programme that had been prepared to celebrate the event.

Among the programme line-up were cooking demo, parent and children parade, Rahmah sales, flash mob, poem recitation and many more.

"The objective of the programme is to instill the love for the country among the youth," he said.

During the event North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Asri Shafie flagged off the participants at about 9am.

Present during the flag off were state People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) director Noriemie{{}} Ismail and civil servants from the Federal Building.
