Negri state govt gives land for Hindu crematorium

THE Negri Sembilan government has allocated 0.6ha of land for a Hindu crematorium, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Malaysia Hindu Sangam’s Negri branch chairman Dr Gobi Achuthan Gurukkal said the 160,000-strong Hindu community in the state requires cremation services about 800 times a year.

“The existing crematorium has not been maintained well and is not suitable,” Gobi said.

He said the new facility will feature all the necessary amenities, besides an electric cremation system.

“The Negri Sembilan Eemasadanggu Sangam (NS Funeral Rites Associaiton) will operate and maintain the new crematorium,” he said.
