Routine police stop leads to discovery of murder


SEPANG: A police stop of a lorry led to the discovery of a murder here.

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan said a police patrol team on duty conducted a police stop in the early hours of Sept 4 along Jalan UPM in Sepang.

Police found an unconscious passenger in the vehicle.

The victim was taken to the Serdang Hospital where the victim was pronounced dead by medical officers.

"A post-mortem exam showed that the victim died from blunt trauma to the head.

"The police then arrested the 41-year-old lorry driver," he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 12).

He added that the suspect was remanded for 12 days for further investigation.

Investigations showed that the victim and suspect were friends and lived in the same area.

The motive for the crime has yet to be ascertained by police.
