Flasher gets one-year jail for showing genitals to woman through video call in Tawau


KOTA KINABALU: A man who flashed his genitals at a woman during a video call was slapped with a one year’s imprisonment at the Tawau Magistrate’s Court on Thursday (Sept 14).

Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjun handed the jail sentence to Raziman Ibrahim after the 35-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code for outraging the modesty of the victim.

According to the facts of the case, the accused had committed the act at a house in Kampung Tanjung Batu Keramat at about 3pm on Aug 19.

The accused had shown his private parts to the 38-year-old woman through a video call with the intent to commit a lewd act.

The offence is punishable under the same Act which provides a maximum five year jail sentence or fine or both.

The court ordered for the accused to serve his jail sentence from the date of his arrest.

Prosecuting officer Asst Supt Nur Intan Jamrin appeared for the prosecution while the accused was not represented.
