I'm ready to cooperate with PAC, says Dr Wee

PETALING JAYA: Former transport minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong expresses his eagerness to cooperate in the Public Accounts Committee’s (PAC) proceedings on the management of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This comes after the PAC said it would call in the Ayer Hitam MP for its fourth proceedings next week due to Dr Wee’s name being mentioned in previous sessions.

“No problem, PAC! I will surely be present on Sept 21. Feel free to ask me any questions and I will assist with the queries,” Dr Wee said in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday (Sept 14).

Former health ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Chen Chaw Min will also be called for next Thursday’s (Sept 21) proceedings, says PAC chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin.

“PAC will call in Dr Wee since his name was mentioned in prior proceedings. To be fair to him, the PAC intends to hear him out.

“But I will not disclose the reason since the PAC proceedings are subject to Rule 85 of the Dewan Rakyat Meeting Rules,” she told a press conference at Parliament on Thursday (Sept 14).

PAC had held its third proceedings on the topic earlier in the day, which heard testimony from Health deputy secretary-general (finance) Datuk Seri Norazman Ayob, Boustead Plantations Bhd non-independent, non-executive director Izaddeen Daud and Pharmaniaga Bhd executive committee chairman Ahmad Shahredzuan Mohd Shariff.

The first PAC proceeding on Covid-19 pandemic management was conducted on June 15 with the second on Aug 22.
