KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Terengganu MP Datuk Ahmad Amzad Hashim is crying foul over Mohd Sany Hamzan’s disparaging remarks over the annulment of the 15th General Elections (GE15) results for his seat.
Ahmad Amzad (PN-Kuala Terengganu) said Mohd Sany (PH-Hulu Langat) had made the “insulting remarks” during the 12th Malaysia Plan mid-term-review debate on Wednesday (Sept 13), adding that the clip of the incident has gone viral.

Mohd Sany claimed the election court had nullified the GE15 results for the Kuala Terengganu seat after finding an element of corruption and money politics, and that Perikatan had re-nominated the same candidate during the by-election.
Ahmad Amzad said Mohd Sany’s remarks did not reflect the court’s judgement which did not find him guilty of corruption.
“This is an insult to the court’s judgement and to me as an elected representative for Kuala Terengganu,” he said in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Sept 14).
He said the matter was related to grants for a government programme and even the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner had said that there was no element of graft.
He also asked Mohd Sany to retract his statement.

Deputy Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor who was presiding over the session suggested Ahmad Amzad to file a motion as a remedy to the issue.
Ahmad Amzad then said he would file a motion.
On June 27, the Terengganu Election Court annulled the victory of Ahmad Amzad, who initially won the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat in November 2022.
Judge Mohd Firus Jaffril said the petitioner, Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Mohd Zubir Embong, succeeded in proving that corruption had taken place with the aim of influencing voters in the constituency.
A by-election was held for the seat on Aug 12, where Ahmad Amzad defeated Azan Ismail of Pakatan Harapan.
