PUTRAJAYA: The Prime Minister’s upcoming trip to China, his second since taking office, is expected to create another round of investments for Malaysia, says the Economy Minister.
Rafizi Ramli (pic)said the visit also reflected China’s position as one of the country’s top trading partners and the cordial relationship between Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Chinese leadership.
“Obviously when the Prime Minister visits China, it is not about a smile and saying “hi”.
“We hope the visit will enable the two countries to see greater cooperation not just between governments but also to facilitate a lot more investments and cross investments between Malaysian and Chinese companies,” he told reporters here after attending the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) Power Chat and Launching of the 17th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention yesterday.
Anwar will be in Nanning on Sunday to attend the China-Asean Expo (CAEXPO) and the China-Asean Business and Investment Summit.
His first visit in March saw Malaysia securing a record RM170bil worth of investment commitments from China.
The amount, the biggest so far from China, was from a total of 19 MOUs sealed between businesses in China and Malaysia in various fields, especially green technology and digital economy.
