Sabah Tourism Board bags Asian, regional awards

KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Tourism Board (STB) has won two international tourism awards.

The state's main tourism promoter was named Asia's Leading Regional Tourist Board at the 30th Annual World Travel Awards at the GEM Centre in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last week.

It also picked up a second nod, winning bronze for Best Communication of Social Media at the 4th Asean PR Excellence Awards in Saigon with its "Fly Me To Sabah" campaign.

Both awards were received by STB chief executive officer Noredah Othman during the events that coincided with the international travel expo in Ho Chi Minh City last week.

Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew congratulated the STB team for its continued and untiring work in promoting Sabah.

Liew hoped that they would continue to sell Sabah as the "go-to tourism destination" to the world.

"I am proud of the Sabah Tourism Board team. Do live up to your good name," Liew told the STB team led by Noredah, who met her at her office here after their return.
