GEORGE TOWN: The Penang government has no details on the proposal to create a special financial zone (SFZ) in the state, says Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow.
He said the state government has no information on the proposal which focused on the northern region, just like the one in Forest City, Johor.
“We don’t have the details, maybe at the end of the debate, hopefully, the relevant ministry can respond to the proposal,” he said yesterday.
During a debate on the 12th Malaysia Plan mid-term review, Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng said the government should create an SFZ in Penang following the announcement by the Prime Minister on the creation of the status for Forest City to boost investment, growth and economic activities in Johor.Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the cost of doing business in the SFZ would be more affordable, aided by several incentives provided by the government.
