No rejection letters issued for applicants at SMPC

KUALA LUMPUR: No rejection letter has been issued for any application for admission of international students at Chinese Private Secondary Schools (SMPC) for the period from June to August 2023.

According to the Education Ministry (MOE), the Private Education Division received as many as 25 applications for the admission of international students in the same period, and the applications are being reviewed while the schools involved have been informed, Bernama reported.

“The MoE has taken note of the media reports in relation to the international students’ application into SMPC.

“A thorough assessment must be conducted because it involves the SMPC operational policy, which is currently being reviewed,” the ministry said yesterday.

The ministry said the admission of international students has always been encouraged in line with the desire to make the country an international education hub, and it is the responsibility of the MOE to ensure that the procedures are followed.

Recently, the media reported claims that about 28 international students’ applications for admission into a Chinese private school in Perak were rejected.
