Tanjung Bidara to get extreme sports parks, says Melaka Chief Minister

MELAKA: The coastal town of Tanjung Bidara will be developed into a holiday destination, says Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh (pic).

The Melaka Chief Minister said the town will be revived through various tourism products, including extreme sports recreation parks.

"We will also organise various programmes catering for youngsters and extreme sports enthusiasts to visit and choose Tanjung Bidara as their holiday spot," he said.

Ab Rauf said the revival of Tanjung Bidara is meant to bring back the town's 1970s glory days and be part of the preparations to usher in the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM2024).

"There is also a plan to unveil a world-class remote control car (RC) sports circuit and a caravan park," he said after officiating the Fit Malaysia State-level Walkabout programme at Tanjung Bidara here on Sunday (Sept 17).

Thousands of participants attended the event by participating in various sports activities such as cycling, Muay Thai and aerobics.

At the event, the Tanjung Bidara assemblyman said that sports and fitness-related activities have the potential to foster family bonds and strengthen harmonious living.

"The Fit Malaysia model should be encouraged and organised in residential areas, villages and populated neighbourhoods," he said.

Ab Rauf also urged locals to fully utilise the sports and recreational facilities provided by relevant agencies and organisations throughout the state.

He added that Melaka has several recreational parks, such as Tanjung Bidara Beach, Ayer Keroh Botanical Garden and the Tun Fatimah Stadium.
