AirAsia SuperApp to be renamed as part of efforts to expand services


KUALA LUMPUR: The AirAsia SuperApp will soon be renamed AirAsia Move as part of efforts by Capital A Bhd, formerly AirAsia Group Bhd, to expand its services beyond the airline industry.

The application's name change in the coming months will also see the integration of Capital A's digital financial services superapp, BigPay.

Capital A chief executive officer Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said the upcoming changes were to provide users with a one-stop superapp for all users.

"Imagine seamless access to travel and financial services on a single platform, with integrated financial features such as balance display, top-up and payments from BigPay.

"This will further strengthen the value proposition of AirAsia Move as the travel app of choice as we aim to create an all-in-one travel app that can solve 90% of issues one may face while traveling," he said during the rebranding launch here Monday (Sept 18).

In addition to the superapp's current services, the full integration will also offer users other financial services such as Buy-Now-Pay-Later, remittance, and even bite-sized insurance for its customers.

Fernandes said that the transition is expected to be completed by the end of 2023.

The transition will also see Capital A's digital arm AirAsia Digital rebranded to AirAsia Move Digital with Fernandes being appointed as its executive chairman.

The company's rebranded digital arm will be led by new chief executive officer Nadia Omer.
