KUANTAN: Seven sets of nomination forms for the Pelangai state by-election have been sold so far, says Pahang Election Commission director Datuk Zamree Hamli.
In a statement on Tuesday (Sept 19), he said the purchasers include Umno, representing Barisan Nasional; Perikatan Nasional; and Pertubuhan Suara Anak Pahang (PSAP).
The Election Commission has fixed Oct 7 as polling day for the Pelangai state seat by-election, following the death of Johari Harun, 53, who was one of the 10 victims of the Aug 17 plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor.
Nomination and early voting have been fixed for Sept 23 and Oct 3 respectively.
Barisan is expected to announce its candidate in Bentong on Wednesday (Sept 20) while Perikatan is scheduled to name its choice in Pelangai itself.
On Aug 29, PSAP president Haslihelmy DM Zulhasli, a Pelangai resident, became the first to buy the nomination form from the EC office here.
In the 15th General Election, Johari who represented Barisan, won with a majority of 4,048 votes, defeating Perikatan candidate Kasim Samat, Ahmed Wafiuddin of Pakatan Harapan, and Pejuang's Isa Ahmad. – Bernama
