Cops record statements of rapper Caprice, influencer Mondy over Ebit Lew’s slander allegations

PETALING JAYA: Police have recorded the statements of local rapper Caprice and Indonesian social media influencer Mondy in connection with a video that allegedly slandered celebrity preacher Ebit Lew.

Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the statements of both individuals were recorded at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday (Sept 19).

"We will be calling up several other witnesses to assist the investigation. We are still investigating the matter further," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 20).

It was reported that an Indonesian social media influencer and a local rapper will be called in to assist police over the video that allegedly slandered Ebit Lew.

On Tuesday, Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk S. Sasikala Devi had said police have just received the order to investigate the case.

"We have classified the case under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for defamation and misuse of networking facilities," she said.

Recently, an Indonesian social media influencer had alleged that Lew had behaved inappropriately with her.

Lew had earlier provided the Indonesian influencer with financial assistance in June, and lodged a report on Monday (Sept 18) at 2.17am alleging that he had been slandered in a video that was circulated on social media.

Subang Jaya Deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus was quoted saying that the video in question garnered around 225,177 views, with 2,600 likes and 2,800 comments.
