Tanah Merah MP to take legal action over vaping claim

PETALING JAYA: Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz is considering taking legal action against the Prime Minister's photographer who claimed he was smoking an electronic cigarette while in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Sept 19).

The Perikatan Nasional lawmaker said a police report would be made by his officers at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters on Friday (Sept 22) afternoon.

Ikmal previously denied he was vaping inside the Dewan Rakyat, instead claiming that the cylindrical object was a pen and not a vape device.

"Everyone knows I'm not a smoker. I can't even sit next to a smoker, let alone vape," he told Sinar Harian.

The photo in question went viral on social media after photographer Sadiq Asyraf uploaded the image on X (previously Twitter).

Sadiq uploaded the image with a caption.

"Betul-betul koyak terus tarik vape sambil keluar dewan," he wrote. (Unacceptable, immediately starts vaping while coming out of Dewan Rakyat.)
