Pasir Gudang MP urges for govt aid as locals' tempers flare over lack of basic goods

PASIR GUDANG: The government has been urged to provide immediate intervention to the people living in Pasir Gudang following reports of public outcry over the lack of daily necessities in the area.

Pasir Gudang MP Hassan Karim said that the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry could provide the aid via the Jualan Rahmah initiative or send enough supplies to the people there.

“I am currently overseeing the people’s condition, and they are angry; there is no rice, no cooking oil, no sugar, and no eggs.

“I hope that the ministry will help us in Pasir Gudang; the people are in need of aid from the government.

“There has never been a case where the people are cut off from the supply of daily necessities like what they are facing right now,” he said in a statement on his Facebook page, here on Saturday (Sept 23).

When contacted, Hassan shared that one of the affected areas is Taman Scientex, where members of the public are reported to have quarrelled with sundry shop owners.

“People are angry, and there is no intervention from the government and its agencies,” he said.
