Pelangai by-election: MCA ready to help Barisan candidate win seat

PETALING JAYA: As the campaign for the Pelangai by-election kicks off, the MCA machinery has a great challenge ahead of them in getting voters to come out and exercise their rights.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong said that come Oct 7, on casting day, the party will have to encourage as many voters as possible.

“I am confident that the voters in Pelangai state assembly, especially the Chinese, will continue to support the Barisan Nasional (Barisan) candidate,” said Dr Wee.

“I am also grateful towards all grassroot members who had taken time to accompany the Barisan candidate (Datuk Amizar Abu Adam) during the nomination process and the opening of the MCA operations room,” he added in a Facebook post on Saturday (Sept 23).

Earlier, Dr Wee had accompanied Amizar to the nomination centre for the Pelangai by-election in the morning.

He then inaugurated the MCA operations room for the by-election.

Dr Wee said that this is to allow the entire MCA Bentong Division machinery to be able to carry out work and campaigning to help the Barisan candidate win.

Present during the ceremony were Pahang MCA chairman Datuk Sri Hoh Khai Mun, Bentong MCA division chairman Datuk Kang Meng Fuat; Pahang MCA Youth leader Wong Siew Mun and former Pahang MCA Youth leader Wong Tze Shiang, Bentong MVA division leaders and MCA branch chairmen under him.

The Pelangai seat became vacant following the death of Datuk Seri Johari Harun, 53, in a plane crash in Shah Alam, Selangor on Aug 17.
