Cops tracking down foreign monk for alleged sexual assault of woman

SERDANG: A foreign monk is being tracked down following a police report lodged over the sexual assault of a woman in Puchong.

Serdang acting OCPD Supt Izuddin Ab Wahab said a woman in her 30s lodged a police report on the incident last month.

"She alleged that the incident occurred in Puchong about six years ago; she was sexually assaulted in her own car," he said in a statement.

The woman's statement has been recorded to assist in the investigation, he said.

"We are also looking for witnesses in the case. The suspect has also been identified and we are currently tracking him down," he said.

The case is classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape, he added.

"It carries a maximum 20-year jail term and whipping upon conviction," said Supt Izuddin.
