Teen feared drowned at Teluk Senangin beach in Lumut


IPOH: A 19-year-old youth has gone missing and is feared drowned at Teluk Senangin beach in Lumut.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations commander Mohd Akmal Hussin said they received a distress call at 9.58am on Sunday (Sept 24).

The victim has been identified as Muhammad Fahmi Hafizi Mohd Fadzli.

"When the team reached the location, they were told that a teenager was feared drown while swimming there.

"We did an initial search along the coastline aided by fishermen in three boats.

"By noon, we extended the search perimeter with a surface search and used a drone used as well," he said.

He said they the Fire and Rescue Department was the lead agency for the operation, assisted by the Maritime Department, Marine police, Civil Defence Force and local fishermen.

He said the victim had yet to be found and the search would resume on Monday (Sept 25).
