Cops arrest four suspects over Desaru biker brawl

KOTA TINGGI: Four men have been arrested over a weekend brawl believed to have been between a local and foreign biker group during the Desaru International Bike Week in the popular seaside town here.

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Hussin Zamora said the suspects, in their 20s and 50s, were apprehended between 1.30pm and 7.50pm on Sunday to assist with investigations.

“A video of the fight was uploaded on social media platforms on Sunday at about 1.15am,” he said in a statement.

It is learnt that the fight erupted following a misunderstanding between two groups of bikers; one from the United States, and the other a local group.

Supt Hussin added that those involved in the incident could be seen wielding wooden sticks as weapons and throwing chairs at each other.

“We have opened an investigation paper on the incident and are identifying the individuals involved in the fight,” said Supt Hussin.

He said the suspects were remanded for three days.
