Number of flood victims double in Kubang Pasu


ALOR SETAR: The number of victims evacuated to flood shelters in the Kubang Pasu district here have doubled as of noon Tuesday (Sept 26).

In a statement, Kedah Disaster Management Committee said a total of 123 people from 36 families are currently seeking shelter at SMK Changlun.

They comprised 33 men and 38 women, 16 boys and 25 girls, as well as 10 senior citizens and a baby.

A total 259 hotspots have been identified as flood-prone areas in Kedah.

On Monday (Sept 25), there were 61 people from 18 families at SMK Changlun.

The Malaysia Meteorological Department has forecast continuous rainfall over Perlis, Kedah and Penang until Wednesday (Sept 27).
