JOHOR BARU: Police arrested 21 more people, including two women, in the anti-gambling Ops Dadu Khas.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the latest arrests were made on Friday (Sept 29) following a series of inspections at 18 premises throughout Johor.
The suspects, aged between 19 and 56, are 18 local men, a foreign man, a local woman and a foreign woman, he said.
“Police seized 21 mobile phones, 10 printers and cash amounting to RM3,053 in the operation,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 30).
Comm Kamarul Zaman added that since the operation targeting online gambling and illegal lottery activity was launched last Friday (Sept 22), 171 premises had been checked and 198 people were arrested.
“All of those nabbed are aged between 18 and 66. There are 162 men and 36 women,” he said, adding the case is being investigated under Sections 4A(a) and 4B(a) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
He said premises involved in illegal activities would have their licences cancelled by the local authority and electricity cut off by Tenaga Nasional Bhd.
