Cops to take action against illegal immigrant colonies in Sabah, says Sabah police commissioner

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah police are working on several plans to tackle the illegal immigrant colonies in the state.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said police were looking into the details of Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) findings that there were about 500 squatter colonies of mainly illegal immigrants in the state.

"We are monitoring the existence of colonies that both Esscom and police identified," he said.

He added that the problem would be dealt with, and all police districts have been instructed to take necessary action," he said.

Comm Jauteh said this after receiving four of eight high-powered Harley Davidson motorcycles costing RM1.076mil from the State Government at Menara Kinabalu on Tuesday (Oct 3).

Jauteh said the motorcycles would be used for special assignments, including escorts from Friday (Oct 6).

He said that the donations of the motorcycles would help boost their assets as they needed more assets in the current pool from the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department of the State police contingent.

The existing pool had to be used for special traffic police escort assignments even though they faced a shortage of assets to cover growing traffic issues.
