Lorry runs over, kills female biker near Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A 24-year-old woman was killed after she was run over by a lorry at KM119 Jalan Tanjung Laboh-Johor Baru-Melaka, here.

Batu Pahat deputy OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said the incident occurred at 8.30am on Tuesday (Oct 3) involving three vehicles.

"The victim, identified as Asniza Adek @ Che Ahmad, was riding her motorcycle when she rammed into the back of the car parked on the motorcycle lane.

"The victim was flung to the right side of the road and was then run over by a lorry," he said in a statement here.

Supt Shahrulanuar added that the car was parked on the bike lane after breaking down.

He said the victim suffered a serious injury to the head and was pronounced dead at the location.

"The body of the victim was taken to Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital in Batu Pahat for a post-mortem examination.

"Both the car and lorry driver were unharmed," he said, adding that those who have information on the incident are urged to call the IPD Batu Pahat Hotline at 07-434 3999 or to go to the nearest police station.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act for dangerous driving.
