PETALING JAYA: Former Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah is back at the Endocrine Institute of Hospital Putrajaya.
In a Facebook post, Dr Noor Hisham said he would be performing surgery every Monday and having clinical consultations every Tuesday.
“I hope this institute will strengthen endocrine surgery and treatment efforts nationwide and become a centre of excellence of international standard,” he said.
Endocrine surgery focuses on a system in the body that involves the thyroid, parathyroid and adrenal glands.
Dr Noor Hisham added that the institute is housed in a 10-storey block with 220 beds, an intensive care unit with 10 beds for adults and eight for paediatric patients, a hybrid neuro-endocrine operating theatre (OT), and four other OTs.
An endocrine surgeon by profession and training, Dr Noor Hisham took on the role of head and senior consultant of breast and endocrine surgery at the hospital in 2002.
On April 19, he retired as the Health director-general.
