Johor to unveil tourism-centric upgrades in state's Budget 2024

SENAI: The Johor government plans to upgrade the tourism facilities in the state within the next two years, says Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi (pic).

The Mentri Besar said that details on the upgrading work would be made at the tabling of the Johor Budget 2024 on Nov 23, this year, at the State Legislative Assembly in Iskandar Puteri.

"I'm also going to reveal plans for transportation, connectivity, Johor Bersih and Johor Selamat during the tabling of the state budget," said Onn Hafiz.

He said this in his speech at the launch of the RM12mil Senai Airport expansion by Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd, a member of MMC Group.

Onn Hafiz said Johor has many tourism products that can attract tourists, such as the Tanjung Piai National Park in Pontian.

"Tanjung Piai is the southernmost point of peninsular and thus the most southern point of mainland Eurasia," he said, adding that there are six national parks in the state.

Onn Hafiz said the state wanted to transform the Greater Johor Baru as the Southern Gateway for visitors and tourists to Malaysia.

He said the announcement of the Special Financial Zone (SFZ) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) would catalyse economic expansion in Johor.

"SFZ and SEZ will attract more investors into the state," said Onn Hafiz.
