Teen siblings killed after motorcycle crashes into car


IPOH: A pair of young siblings were killed after the motorcycle they were on crashed into a car at KM45 of Jalan Hutan Melintang-Bagan Datuk in Hilir Perak.

Hilir Perak OCPD Asst Comm Ahmad Adnan Basri said a 15-year-old boy and his 13-year-old sister were killed on the spot following the incident on Thursday (Oct 5) at about 7am.

"The victims succumbed to serious injuries while the driver of the car, a 28-year-old woman, sustained light injuries," he said in a statement.

"Initial investigations found that the siblings were heading towards the Hutan Melintang direction from Bagan Datuk, and their vehicle is believed to have entered the opposite lane before crashing into the car," he said, adding that the siblings were on their way to their school.

ACP Ahmad Adnan said the matter is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act.

"Investigations are still ongoing to determine the real cause of the accident.

"Witnesses or motorists with car dashboard cameras can contact investigating officer Insp Muhammad Hanif Ghazali on 013-821 1978 or 05-612 2222 to assist investigations," he said, adding that the woman's statement has been recorded.

"The people are advised to always drive carefully according to traffic rules and laws," he added.
