Haze issue to be addressed in Parliament next week, says Nik Nazmi

IPOH: The latest developments on measures to tackle the haze will be answered in Parliament on Monday (Oct 9), says Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister said the matter would be debated.

“I will give my explanation when questions about the haze are brought up by MPs," he told reporters after launching the Papan 2 Regional Sewage Treatment Plant (RSTP) near Pusing on Saturday (Oct 7).

Nik Nazmi had been asked about efforts being made to overcome the long-standing and recurring problem of transboundary haze.

On Friday (Oct 6), Nik Nazmi had said Malaysia was waiting for Indonesia’s response on the republic’s efforts to curb transboundary haze.

He also said the matter would be followed up with Indonesia’s Environment and Forestry Minister Siti Nurbaya Bakar.
