Klang cop falls 6m, still manages to apprehend suspect

KLANG: A six-metre fall did not prevent a determined policeman from catching a suspect during a raid here.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said that 32-year-old Insp Mohammad Azrin Yazid, from the South Klang police headquarters, was leading a narcotics bust in Taman Sri Andalas on Oct 7 and started chasing a suspect.

"He climbed to the roof of a three-storey house and found that a suspect had escaped through the roof.

"While attempting to go back down, the pipe he was holding on to broke and he fell six metres.

"However, Insp Mohammad Azrin continued the chase and successfully arrested the suspect," he said in a statement on Monday (Oct 9).

A check on the suspect led to the discovery of two packets of syabu weighing around 104.1g.

The police officer later felt some pain in his neck, hands and legs and was given a medical check-up before he was transferred to a hospital.

"Surgery was performed on his leg and he is currently in a stable condition," he said.
