JOHOR BARU: A thief has been recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage stealing donation boxes from a restaurant in Ulu Tiram here.
Seri Alam OCPD Supt Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the two-minute, 20-second video of the male suspect stealing the donation boxes has gone viral on social media.
"The 57-year-old restaurant owner lodged a police report.
"Initial investigations found that the incident happened at around 1.10am on Friday (Oct 6). The suspect stole five donation boxes with cash amounting to RM300," he said in a statement here on Monday (Oct 9).
Supt Mohd Sohaimi added the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code and urged those with information on the suspect to contact Johor police hotline at 07-221 2999.
