PETALING JAYA: PAS, with Perikatan Nasional, is organising a peace rally on Friday (Oct 13) in the wake of skirmishes between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip in the Middle East.
Deputy PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi said the gathering, themed "Save Masjidil Aqsa", would be held in front of the National Mosque after the Friday prayers.
"The war in the Middle East symbolises the awakening of Islam in Palestine who have been imprisoned in their own country by Zionists, subjecting them to persecution and torture, including the intrusion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
"Hundreds of lives have been lost in the Middle East war and thousands injured, many of them women, children and senior citizens, and we can't remain silent in this hour of need," said Afnan in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 10).
"PAS is calling all Muslims and Malaysians to come to the National Mosque to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
"Let us be with one heart, with no racial barriers or religion, colour or political alignment and show solidarity with our fellow human beings," added Afnan.
