Body of teen who fell into a river in Penampang found


KOTA KINABALU: The body of a 13-year-old boy who fell into a river in the Penampang district on Tuesday evening (Oct 10) has been found.

The victim’s body was found at 6am, after search and rescue teams resumed their operations at Kg Inobong on Wednesday (Oct 11).

State Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Hamsa Isnurdini said the body of Ashley Preston Hartley was discovered some 1.3km from where the victim fell.

“His body has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.

It was reported that Ashley was playing by the riverbank with some friends when he slipped and fell into the river.
