Malaysia evacuating 5 from Gaza with help from the Philippines


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia is working with the Philippines to evacuate five Malaysians caught in Gaza, says Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

"The five Malaysians caught in conflict zones, namely a mother, her three children and Doctor Nurul Ain Latif from Kota Baru, are all safe.

"We are currently working with our Philippines counterparts to evacuate the family and eight Indonesians in the area," the Foreign Minister said in reply to Tan Hong Pin (PH-Bakri) in Parliament on Thursday (Oct 12).

On Saturday (Oct 7), during the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, Hamas launched a surprise attack from Gaza, which saw a barrage of rockets fired towards Israel and armed individuals breaching security barriers.

In response, Israel has since declared war against Hamas, launching air strikes and military operations.
