Man dies after his car rams into pillar in Johor


JOHOR BARU: A man died on the spot after the car driven by him rammed into the concrete pillar of an elevated highway.

The Johor Fire and Rescue Department Operation Centre said they received an emergency call on the incident on Thursday (Oct 12) at 8.26pm.

"The incident took place in front of Istana Pasir Pelangi at Jalan Pasir Pelangi," Larkin Fire station chief Suhaimi Abdul Jamal said in a statement.

He said the car driven by the victim had hit the pillar and firemen used a rescue cutter and spreader to release the body.

"The medical team from the Health Ministry confirmed the 27-year-old male victim died at the accident site," said Suhaimi.

He said the operation involving 14 firemen from the Larkin Fire station led by senior officer II Firdaus Abdullah ended at 9.17pm.
