Babysitter detained after toddler's death in daycare


PETALING JAYA: A babysitter has been detained in connection with the death of a two-month-old baby girl at a daycare centre in Kota Damansara here.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid said the woman, in her 40s, was arrested around 3pm on Friday (Oct 13).

"The babysitter is a foreigner, who is married to a local man.

"She was detained and subsequently released on police bail after having her statement recorded," he said when contacted on Saturday (Oct 14).

ACP Mohamad Fakhrudinsaid police were still waiting for the post-mortem report.

He urged the public to give space to police to investigate the matter thoroughly.

The victim Qaseh Aulia Faizul was sent to the daycare centre on Tuesday (Oct 10), said her father Faizul Ali Adam in a viral video.

Faizul said shortly after, he received a call from the centre, informing that his daughter was unconscious and would be brought to a hospital around the area.

The baby died upon arrival at the hospital.

Faizul lodged a police report after reviewing footage of the centre's surveillance camera and suspected negligence in the babysitter while caring for his girl.
