Budget 2024: Setting up single border agency would ease Causeway commute, says JB MP

JOHOR BARU: The plan to set up a single border agency that was announced during the tabling of Budget 2024 will bring a positive impact to Johor, says Johor Baru MP Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir.

Akmal Nasrullah, also Deputy Local Government Development Minister, said that the initiative would benefit travellers using the Causeway here.

"During the tabling of the Budget, the Prime Minister mentioned setting up a single border agency, which I believe will also benefit our border here with Singapore.

"As we know, one of the challenges of managing the border is that there are many agencies involved, and the setting up of a single agency will help to address this challenge.

"As the Johor Baru MP, I see this as a very significant initiative for the area, especially the CIQ," he said.

He said this when met during the Nasional Sports Day celebration here at Rumah Pangsa Larkin on Saturday (Oct 14).

He added that the Home Ministry is expected to provide more details on the agency.

During the tabling of Budget 2024, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the government will set up a single border agency and allocate some RM20mil for the maintenance and repair, as well as acquire assets at all international borders of the country.
