A 12-year-old boy from Perak published a book of short stories, titled The Full Half School, Makkal Osai reported.

R. Varunesh from Malim Nawar wrote the book on his own while his teacher Sandra Devi helped to proofread.

Malim Nawar assemblyman V. Bavani @ Shasha, who launched the book, commended the primary pupil for his impressive achievement at such a young age.

She hoped the boy would continue improving his writing skill and publish more works in the future.

Varunesh said he started reading and writing at the age of four.

“I also participated in a storytelling session when I was at kindergarten,” he said.

He said his father, a microbiologist at a private hospital in Ipoh, and mother, a high school teacher, had been very supportive of his interest in writing.

The above articles are compiled from the vernacular newspapers (Bahasa Malaysia, Chinese and Tamil dailies). As such, stories are grouped according to the respective language/medium. Where a paragraph begins with a >, it denotes a separate news item.
